Halo - Halo: Your Go-To Dessert for the Sweltering Afternoon Heat

When March comes in, you would often see people in the province lingering outside - talking to one another, eating, observing, waiting for something to happen, playing bingo, and eating some more. It amuses me how this cycle never breaks through the years.

Another thing that's always constant in Philippines though is the hot, "no matter how much I take a bath I'm still sticky"  kind of weather.

I guess our ancestors couldn't take the heat anymore and created this glass of delicious sweet refreshing goodness. And my god.  This dessert will make so hyper, Deadpool would feel like a one week old kitten.

Halo - Halo Recipe

Ingredients

2 tbs. Pearls or jelly
1 tbs. Sweetened saba banana
1 tbs. Sweetened kamote
1 tbs. Sweetened jackfruit
1 tbs. Sweetened kaong
1 tbs. Macapuno
2 tbs. White sugar
1/2 cup Shaved/Crushed ice
3 - 5 tbs. Evaporated milk
1 tbs. Leche flan

Procedure

Using a tall glass, fill the first half with the sweets listed,
including a few tablespoon of sugar. Then, proceed by placing half
a cup of shaved ice. To top it of, drizzle with evaporated milk and big
dollops of Leche flan. Enjoy!

*Most Filipinos add Ube (purple yam), ice cream, Nata de Coco and other
sweets to their Halo - Halo. But you know what? There is nothing wrong
in deviating from the norm, so you do your own Halo – Halo. No judgments.
Just keep on eating.
